MercuryRev presentan en estos días dos nuevos discos de estudio. "Snowflake Midnight" que se distribuye en CD y vinilo y "The Strange Attractor" que se solo se puede conseguir (y gratis) a través de su web, dándote de alta en una lista de correo (¿y eso por qué? en fin). También tienen un enlace al vídeo-clip de "Butterfly’s Wing" (¿otra vez mariposas?) que ha estado unos días en youtube pero que ya ha sido retirado, una pequeña joya de animación.

La mañana maldita

Ya está lista la versión on-line de "La mañana maldita" cortometraje realizado en tan solo 3 días para el concurso del Diba Festival 2008. La organización estableció este año como tema la palabra "tiempo" y a partir de ahí y con un tiempo limitado había que desarrollar y realizar un corto. Hubo más de 200 participantes.

Poco sabemos de las películas que se encuentran en la situación de dominio público. Tampoco, es lugar sólo para expertos, conocemos los nombres de los animadores de la época clásica de Disney, aquellos que se encontraban tras la realización de muchos cortometrajes tanto conocidos como no conocidos. Lo que sí es cierto es que John Lasseter y la gente de Pixar, conocen la existencia de los mismos y de la gente que los realizó, hombres a los que siempre han tratado de homenajear en sus trabajos. De hecho, Lasseter, para preparar su película ‘Cars’, tuvo como fuente de inspiración este cortometraje (los ojos en el parabrisas), de Disney que hoy os traemos, ‘Suzie the Little Coupe’, que curiosamente está disponible en dominio público (sin problemas de derechos), y que fue adaptado por Bill Peet, autor de la idea que da origen al cortometraje, y que luego, una vez que abandonó la Disney, tuvo una conocida carrera como autor de libros para niños, animado por Ollie Johnston y dirigido por Clyde Geronimi (conviene ir dando valor a estos animadores, tal y como se hace ahora con los directores de las películas de Pixar).

El cortometraje fue realizado en 1952, y prácticamente no tuvo cobertura hasta 1968 cuando el estreno de la primera película de Herbie, ‘Ahí va ese bólido’ (la versión en español es casi imposible de encontrar, pero sabéis de mi poca predisposición a subir trabajos que no estén en V.O.). En ‘Suzie the Little Blue Coupe’, tenemos a la pequeña Suzie, un coupe que vive una serie de sucesos, desde su vida lujosa hasta que encuentra al dueño de sus sueños. Otra joya que conviene recordar y repasar (y que sin Internet hubiera sido imposible).

Animacor 2007

Ya qeda sólo un mes para qe empiece en Córdoba el III Festival Internacional de Animación "Animacor". Del 5 al 10 de noviembre de 2007 se proyectarán largos, cortos y series de animación tanto en competición por los distintos premios como fuera de ella: el año pasado vimos verdaderas maravillas, otras no tanto, pero al fin y al cabo la media general muy buena.

A las proyecciones se unen encuentros, exposiciones y otras actividades: todas esas cositas propias de los festivales, ya sabéis. El festival cada año va a más, no me extrañaría qe en próximas ediciones apareciesen por aqí Gual Disnei o Janabarbera y hubiese qe poner alfombra roja.
La verdad es qe tal como está es una gozada.

Suba (Mitar Suboti) estudió jazz, composición clásica y escribió música para teatro, ballet y cine. También fue uno de los pioneros de la música electrónica. A mediados de los 80 se fue a Brasil, dondé fusionó su preparación clásica con la música brasileña. Murió en 1999 en el incendio de su estudio a la edad de 38 años. Su último disco fue "Sao Paolo Confessions". En la contraportada escribe: “Sao Paolo, Brazil. La cuarta megápolis mundial con más de 18 millones de almas. Virgil Widrich

Virgil Widrich es uno de los realizadores de cortometrajes de animación que más me interesa. Es el director de “Copy Shop” una historia sobre el dependiente de una copistería que un día decide fotocopiarse a si mismo. Widrich rodó el corto en vídeo, imprimió sus 18.000 fotogramas, los fotocopió y los re-grabó fotograma a fotograma con una cámara de 35 mm. Puedes verlo en Google Video o descargar en Mediafire.

Su último trabajo (por ahora) es “Fast Film”. En este caso Widrich ha cogido unos 65.000 fotogramas de viejas películas, los ha imprimido y animado. En este caso lo puedes ver en youtube. También una entrevista.
