hoy viene a la Seminci de Valladolid Alberto Grimaldi "il produtore", ese tipo que de una forma u otra está detrás de algunas de las mejores películas de la historia...
No se como explicarlo, o podría contarlo de mil maneras, llevo como seis días escribiendo mentalmente una y otra vez este post en mi cabeza, he hablado con unos y otros, con todo el mundo, directores, periodistas de todas partes, políticos, aventureros, camareros, jurado joven, público anónimo... y sip, somos muchos los que andamos indignados, alucinados, y en suma, bastante preocupados por la salud del Sr Grimaldi... ¿como va a reaccionar cuando se entere que sus películas están siendo proyectadas en DVD de ínfima calidad en los cines Mantería?, a algunas copias sólo les falta el logo de la 2... pedazo HOMENAJE... mamma mía!!! o es culpa del proyector?
¿porque no han puesto directamente un enlace al youtube o al emule si me apuras?
Tamos mal, muy mal, esta seminci se nos muere... pero mas triste sería que le pasara algo a Grimaldi, que festivales hay muchos, pero productores como él son únicos !!!
Ya sabeis que aquí no nos dedicamos a la crónica diaria... eso se lo dejamos a otros. Las razones ya las hemos explicado en mas de una ocasión, igual que nuestras prioridades y preferencias. Hablaremos de la Seminci cuando termine, pero si alguno tiene interés especial en las pelis y tal y tal... que mire el blog de David Garrido, entusiasta del cine, muy puesto y curator de la semana de cine inédito de Mérida. Pero esto que nos ocupa no lo podemos dejar pasar...
Homenaje a Grimaldi... cojonudo !!! y encima viene él personalmente, el productor de "novecento" y "el último tango en París" de Bertolucci, "las mil y una noches", "il Decameron" y "cuentos de Canterbury" de Pasolini, "Satyricon" y "Casanova" de Fellini, joder... Francesco Rossi, Gillo Pontecorvo, Elio Petri, el "touche pas la femme blache" de Marco Ferreri, por no hablar de las conocidas obras de Sergio Leone... "el bueno, el feo y el malo" y "por un puñado de dólares"... cualquiera de esas películas vale mas que el resto de ciclos que estamos viendo (con perdón, que alguna decente si hemos visto, pero no obras maestras ni mucho menos)
Y resulta que viene Alberto Grimaldi in person...
No las estamos viendo, porque aunque lo hemos intentado es imposible ver esas pelis en esas condiciones, mas aun en una semana internacional de cine del prestigio de la de Valladolid, vale para un cineclub underground o whatever... pedazo homenaje!!!
Ya sabemos que en los festis cada vez se proyecta mas en DVD, pero ojo, nuevas producciones, o con una digitalización decente, sino ya hechas en digital... pero hombre de dios... esas películas de Grimaldi pensadas en 35 milímetros, con sus rayones y todo... ¿pero en que estaría pensando el santo pasolini cuando las rodó? sino en esos putos rayones, como el ruidillo de los surcos del vinilo que le dan ese sabor añejo...
¿y todos aquellos que ni las han visto y nunca conseguirán verlas en su formato original, como fueron concebidas por obra y gracia de esas mentes pervertidas? sino las pueden ver en condiciones en el marco de un festival internacional de cine ¿dónde las van a ver? ¿en casa de Grimaldi?
y todo esto lo sabrá Grimaldi? porque este hombre controla absolutamente todo, está encima de todo, como buen produtore.

La Seminci se ha venido abajo, estos dos últimos años han sido devastadores, lamentables, los inmediatamente anteriores "in descendo" a pesar del trabajo de fontanería que hacía el Sr Lara reparando cañerías y tapando los agujeros de de la riva... hasta hacer mutis, mucho cuesta levantar algo y que tenga cierta solvencia, poco hace falta para cargárselo... las distris prefieren llevar sus pelis a otros festis, ¿está el innombrable pensando definitivamente en privatizarlo o venderlo a precio de saldo?
En fin, que ya hablaremos de ello, y menudo nivel... 5 días han tenido que pasar para que llegaran los catalanes con "lo mejor de mi" para traernos la primera película digna de una seminci, mientras tanto nos hemos comido hasta comedias de adolescentes de esas que ponen los sábados por la tarde en la tele.
Y ok, aun nos quedan 4 días... quien sabe, pero hoy... Grimaldi, a ver que pasa.

El año pasado dejamos a la Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid (Seminci) en la UCI de los festivales cinematográficos estatales. Nada parecía funcionar en uno de los certámenes más importantes de España: una sección oficial lastimosa sin ningún título de relevancia y apuestas personales ajadas e inocuas, unos ciclos paralelos cercanos a un maratón de cine de barrio –“Cine entre líneas” (cine y periodismo), “Los videojuegos y el cine”, etc.-, sesiones deplorables donde igual se proyectaba un betacam doblado al castellano de “Llamada a un reportero” como se veía un Satyajit Ray proyectado en DVD con subtítulos en hebreo y formato anamórfico (no es broma)… En fin, el horror. Todas las miradas de rabia se centraban en la máxima figura visible del festival, y no me refiero a don Francisco Javier León de la Riva, alcalde de la ciudad, sino a Juan Carlos Frugone, visto lo visto, discutible sustituto de Fernando Lara al frente de la Seminci.
Por suerte para el cronista, esta 52ª edición presentaba nombres lo suficientemente apetitosos para hablar de síntomas de resurrección del ceramnet: Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Naomi Kawase, Ermanno Olmi, Ang Lee, Wong Kar-Wai y Nicolas Philibert, más alguna figura a descubrir como Darren Ashton, Lucía Puenzo y Alberto Morais.
Con todo es necesario remarcar el anticlimax con que se inauguró el festival: tras la proyección de “Persépolis” de MARJANE SATRAPI & VINCENT PARONNAUD, llegó el habitual cóctel (privado) de bienvenida con actuación incluida del trío Marlango. Que cada caul juzge lo que encuentra más ridículo: (a) que se prepara una actuación de cinco canciones para el alcalde y sus amigos; (b) que Marlango aceptaran tamaña pantomima; (c) que el dinero del festival esté destinado a este onanismo autocomplaciente en vez de conseguir copias en 35mm de, por ejemplo, “La muerte tenía un precio” (proyectada en la retrospectiva dedicada al productor Alberto Grimaldi).

Frente a la crisis reiterativa a que se enfrentan buena parte de los autores consagrados y popularizados en los años noventa –algo a lo que WONG KAR-WAI no es ajeno, como demuestra la plástica apabullante y descocada de “My Blueberry Nights”, una película que se pretende beat y que únicamente funciona a empujones cromáticos-, destacan con voz propia dos piezas magistrales de fuerte carácter lírico; hablo, evidentemente, de “The Flight Of The Red Balloon” de HOU HSIAO-HSIEN (uno de los hitos de Cannes 2007) y de “El bosque de luto” de NAOMI KAWASE, picos de calidad de esta muestra recibidos, eso sí, con fuertes pataleos (extraña y reprobable costumbre vallisoletana) es sus correspondientes proyecciones. Casi en un planeta aparte se encuentran tanto el maestro ERMANNO OLMI –“Cien clavos”- (también pataleado) como el estilista aventajado que es ANG LEE –“Deseo, peligro”-; el primero reinventando su mirada a a partir de las formas cinematográficas de los años sesenta italianos y el segundo (ya premiado en Venecia) volviendo a cambiar de género, argumento y estilo, sin por ello mermar en lo más mínimo el perfecto acabado de su obra, en esta ocasión una sensacional transgresión noir cargada de dureza sexual y entramado matahairesco.
El francés NICOLAS PHILIBERT intenta en “Regreso a Normandía” un ejercicio parecido a esa pieza mayúscula de José Luis Guerín llamada “Innisfree” (1990), en busca de las huellas dejadas por la película “Moi, Pierre Rivière, ayant égorgé ma mère, ma soeur et mon frère…” (René Allio, 1976). La carga lírica se transmuta aquí en la vía testimonial de forma deslavazada y con significativos altibajos, pero aun así interesante: mientras habla de los fantasmas del cinematógrafo, Philibert nos marca las cicatrices del tiempo en el devenir humano. Parecidos espectros son los buscados por el vallisoletano ALBERTO MORAIS en su interesante documental “Un lugar en el cine”, donde a través de los testimonios de vacas sagradas (Theo Angelopoulos, Victor Erice, Tonino Guerra) intenta establecer un recorrido imposible a través de la resistencia cinematográfica.

Tras el despiporre cachondo que significó “Razzle Dazzle” del británico DARREN ASHTON, todos empezamos a creer que la Seminci había acertado en sus inteligentes propuestas a concurso. Lástima que el jurado no estuviera muy centrado en las propuestas más arriesgadas y otorgara la mayoría de los galardones a un nuevo alegato social patrio –de nuevo la inmigración-, “14 kilómetros” del cordobés GERARDO OLIVARES (Espiga de Oro), y al horrendo telefilm de sobremesa polaco “Plaza del salvador”, dirigido por el matrimonio KRZYSTOF y JOANNA KRAUZE (Espiga de Plata); sin duda lo peor a concurso junto a “Lejos de ella”, el debut en la dirección de la actriz canadiense SARAH POLLEY, de inspiración coixietiana. También se llevó premio –a mejor guión- la israelí “The Band’s Visit” de ERAN KOLIRIN.
Y teniendo en cuenta la selección de las (co)producciones españolas a concurso –“La zona” del mejicano RODRIGO PLÁ, “Oviedo Express” de GONZALO SUÄREZ, “El prado de las estrellas” de MARIO CAMUS- fue algo calamitosa, no hubiera estado de más acordarse de “XXY” de la argentina LUCÍA PUENZO, una propuesta interesante resuelta con algún que otro encontronazo físico realmente estimulante.

Espigas Imposibles.
“RAZZLE DAZZLE”

La película revelación del festival: un fake desquiciado y sátiro centrado en los concursos de baile infantiles. Película protagonizada por un grupo de freaks con algún que otro cromosoma dañado, “Razzle Dazzle” es un divertimento total, un retrato en toda regla del patetismo humano y la cultura del éxito. La suma imposible de “Very Important Perros”, “Spellbound” y “Pequeña Miss Sunshine”.
“CIEN CLAVOS”
(Ermanno Olmi”
En su última genialidad, Olmi cambia el catolicismo por el humanismo, la estilización plástica por la deslocalización estructural (es sin duda su obra más cercana a los teoremas de Pasolini). “Cien Clavos” es una fábula que tiene la inocencia como arma principal, reivindicando la honestidad en el contacto humano, la experiencia orgánica frente a lo intelectual. Y cuenta con el mejor plano del certamen: cien clavos para cien libros.
“THE BAND’S VISIT”
(Eran Kolirin)
Dado que todo crítico es un sátiro en potencia, es normal que conteste agriamente frente a cualquier propuesta optimista. Malas cartas para una película que agradó tanto a la prensa que pataleaba a Naomi Kawase y Hou Hisiao-Hsien como a un alto porcentaje de público. Es una pena porque el rigor estilístico y lo acertado de algunas secuencias son realmente incuestionables. Lástima que vivamos una época hermética a la fabulación.
“XXY”

Entre dubitativo e instintivo fluye este retrato dramático sobre una anomalía orgánica en su vertiente más bizarra. Toda una antítesis del habitual acercamiento al descubrimiento de la sexualidad que acierta en lo físico, pero flojea en lo narrativo (frente a la fuerza del contacto físico, poco tiene que hacer la cháchara discursiva). ¿Qué habría hecho David Cronenberg con semejante material?.

Y teniendo en cuenta la selección de las (co)producciones españolas a concurso –“La zona” del mejicano RODRIGO PLÁ, “Oviedo Express” de GONZALO SUÄREZ, “El prado de las estrellas” de MARIO CAMUS- fue algo calamitosa, no hubiera estado de más acordarse de “XXY” de la argentina LUCÍA PUENZO, una propuesta interesante resuelta con algún que otro encontronazo físico realmente estimulante.

La película revelación del festival: un fake desquiciado y sátiro centrado en los concursos de baile infantiles. Película protagonizada por un grupo de freaks con algún que otro cromosoma dañado, “Razzle Dazzle” es un divertimento total, un retrato en toda regla del patetismo humano y la cultura del éxito. La suma imposible de “Very Important Perros”, “Spellbound” y “Pequeña Miss Sunshine”.
“CIEN CLAVOS”

En su última genialidad, Olmi cambia el catolicismo por el humanismo, la estilización plástica por la deslocalización estructural (es sin duda su obra más cercana a los teoremas de Pasolini). “Cien Clavos” es una fábula que tiene la inocencia como arma principal, reivindicando la honestidad en el contacto humano, la experiencia orgánica frente a lo intelectual. Y cuenta con el mejor plano del certamen: cien clavos para cien libros.

Dado que todo crítico es un sátiro en potencia, es normal que conteste agriamente frente a cualquier propuesta optimista. Malas cartas para una película que agradó tanto a la prensa que pataleaba a Naomi Kawase y Hou Hisiao-Hsien como a un alto porcentaje de público. Es una pena porque el rigor estilístico y lo acertado de algunas secuencias son realmente incuestionables. Lástima que vivamos una época hermética a la fabulación.

Entre dubitativo e instintivo fluye este retrato dramático sobre una anomalía orgánica en su vertiente más bizarra. Toda una antítesis del habitual acercamiento al descubrimiento de la sexualidad que acierta en lo físico, pero flojea en lo narrativo (frente a la fuerza del contacto físico, poco tiene que hacer la cháchara discursiva). ¿Qué habría hecho David Cronenberg con semejante material?.

vale la primera parte de esa reseña... incluso se ha quedado bastante corto en comparación con lo que se comenta en valladolid, pero en la segunda parte uno se pregunta si hemos estado en el mismo festival, francamente.
Olmi ha hecho buenas películas, pero no precisamente "cien clavos" que se le va de las manos de forma lametable y la australiana Razzle Dazzle, en fin, comedia para adolescentes para dormir la siesta los sábados por la tarde delante de la tv. Hace unos años en la seminci con una película así habría habido un pataleo de la hostia, la gente se habría salido del cine y seguramente el sr director habría tenido que pedir disculpas al día siguiente
Y lo que es ya para cagarse es el premio del público en punto de encuentro, volando vengo volando voy, no se como se atreven a traer películas así, pero que además el público la vote como la mejor de la sección es para echarse a llorar. ¿es ese el perfil de público que buscan en la seminci? gente que se come cualquier cosa sin pensar? blandenguerías sentimentaloides incosistentes
