joder, se me había olvidado -sorry-, la semana pasada nos comentaron los de arco y flecha que los días 28 y 29 de junio (jueves/viernes) organizan una serie de conciertos en Barcelona (L'auditori) con John Zorn y Marc Ribot como protagonistas, o sea "Complete Masada"
y la cosa se llama así porque se irán sucediendo 5 formaciones diferentes y en tres de ellas participan uno, otro o los dos : electric masada, Asmodeus y Bar Kokhba (Marc Ribot) y además Astaroth (JAMIE SAFT TRIO) y Masada String Trio y en todas como protagonista "masada"
pues eso, complete masada, ah y sólo se podrá ver en Barcelona y Roma

John Zorn presenta un festival dedicado a la música que ha compuesto en los últimos trece años para las distintas formaciones que interpretan Masada. Dos noches en las que doce músicos, todos ellos líderes de sus propias formaciones y con una colaboración de largos años con Zorn, interpretarán en vivo las composiciones que se recogen en los Masada Book Songs.
Un proyecto único que sólo podrá disfrutarse en dos ciudades europeas: Barcelona y Roma.
Un recorrido a través de la música klezmer, el be bop, el jazz, la música contemporánea, el surf rock, el hardcore y la música clásica, bajo la dirección y la interpretación al saxo de este visionario compositor de Nueva York.

Tres de los músicos más intensos del planeta juntos en un explosivo trío. Miembro de la familia Masada desde el principio, nadie mejor que Marc Ribot para manejar una interpretación rock del Book of Angels, con Trevor Dunn (Fantomas, Moonchild) al bajo y el legendario G. Calvin Weston (Ornette Coleman, James Blood Ulmer) a la batería.
Según Ribot, Asmodeus interpreta un material nuevo y más extremo de Masada, con una aproximación free/punk, algo así entre el Jack Johnson de Miles Davis, el Prime Time de Ornette y Napalm Death. Las referencias de Marc son Hendrix, Sharrock, McLaughlin, Ulmer, etc.
Un trío en el que la música de Masada adquiere completamente una nueva dimensión. Apasionada y potente, es una de las entregas más convincentes entre toda la serie Masada y contiene algunas de las mejores y más salvajes interpretaciones de Ribot.

En los últimos meses de 2004, John Zorn escribió 300 nuevos temas para su popular proyecto Masada, que luego fueron grabados en distintos ábumes que presentaban a los mejores intérpretes de la familia Masada interpretando composiciones del Masada Book Two: The Book of Angels.
Este primer volumen presenta a Jamie Saft en el piano acústico en un trío con reminiscencias de lo mejor del género. Bill Evans, Paul Bley, Herbie Hancock, Vince Guaraldi e incluso el Bagels and Bongos del pianista Irving Fields son piedras de toque de esta formación que incluye a Greg Cohen (Masada, Ornette Coleman) al bajo y a Ben Perowsky (Uri Caine, John Scofield) a la batería.
Tocando con la pasión y el ardor que es de esperar de la familia Masada, esta imaginativa banda eleva el nivel de la versatilidad y la excelencia en un formato de trío con piano.
