En Snuggles andan flipando con la historia de Joyce Hatto. Y aquí también. Joyce Hatto era una prometedora pianista que abandonó los escenarios en los 70, tras ser diagnosticada de cáncer. A partir de ese momento publicó más de 100 grabaciones en Concert Artist Records, la discográfica de su marido, incluyendo las sonatas de Beethoven, Mozart y Prokofiev, los conciertos de Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Brahms y Mendelssohn, y casi todas las composiciones de Chopin, y críticos como Richard Dyer andaban diciendo que era la más grande pianista, aunque pocos sepan de ella.
Hace unos días un tal Brian Ventura se dispuso a escuchar los 12 estudios trascendentales de Liszt en versión de Hatto, pero iTunes identificó el cd como una grabación de Lászlo Simon. Extrañado se lo hizo saber a The Gramophone, una revista de música clásica, que encargó la investigación de tan extraño suceso a Pristine Audio, que confirmó la tangada. Poco después también lo hacía The AHRC Research Centre for the History and Analysis of Recorded Music (CHARM), Royal Holloway, University of London. En menos de una semana se identificaron las fuentes originales para 20 de las grabaciones de Hatto.
