El capitalismo salvaje de los años 90 puso fin a la época de los
tribunos (en Rusia). Hoy día una manifestación que reúna a más de mil
personas se considera todo un acontecimiento en la capital rusa. Los
partidos políticos que añoran las multitudes gastan ahora grandes
fortunas en la organización de los mítines, mientras la mayor parte de
los participantes reciben una remuneración en metálico por desempeñar su
papel. "La diferencia entre un modesto piquete, que exhibe pancartas con
lemas y consignas políticas, y una manifestación de 50.000 personas sólo
está en el presupuesto. Se pueden organizar ambas cosas en sólo varios
días", declara a este diario Serguei, especialista en organización de
reuniones públicas, que dirige una consultoría moscovita cuya actividad
oficial es programar campañas electorales.
Hay decenas de compañías semejantes en Moscú que cobran a los
interesados entre 300 y 500 rublos (entre 9 y 15 euros) por cabeza. Los
propios manifestantes reciben entre 100 y 200 rublos (entre 3 y 6
euros), una suma que puede interesar a estudiantes y pensionistas dado
que se gana con aguantar un par de horas al aire libre. Los asistentes
privilegiados son los que están dispuestos a pelearse con la policía y a
ser detenidos delante de las cámaras de televisión. Son imprescindibles
para mítines que no cuenten con el permiso de las autoridades locales.
Una garantía. - "Una pelea entre los manifestantes y las fuerzas
antidisturbios es un espectáculo que se vende muy bien y siempre atrae
la atención de los medios. Es una garantía de que la manifestación
saldrá en las noticias", opina Kirill Ivanov, portavoz del ala juvenil
de la liberal Unión de las Fuerzas de Derecha. Según Ivanov, en algunas
ocasiones existe un acuerdo secreto entre la policía y los organizadores
que marcan de alguna manera a los combatientes preparados para ser
detenidos. Los demás salen ilesos de la inevitable confrontación.
(...) "Se puede ganar así hasta 5.000 rublos (145 euros) al mes. Además,
te ayuda obtener contactos", confía. Mientras tanto, la ley de
manifestaciones y mítines de Rusia, enmendada bajo la presidencia de
Vladimir Putin, obstaculiza hasta el límite la organización de reuniones
públicas que no sean controladas por las autoridades. Los organizadores
han de pedir permiso con al menos 10 días de antelación y han de
presentar todos los detalles de la futura manifestación. Aun así, la
autorización oficial no está garantizada.

"Abrimos el servicio debido a la creciente demanda que había por ellos" aclaran los responsables de Erento. Un manifestante no es barato: unos US$150 por día por cada uno de ellos, debería en principio pagar el interesado, aunque algunos "manifestantes" ofrecen honorarios algo reducidos por causas que les interesen. La empresa se queda con un 4,9 % de los honorarios de cada persona contratado... sólo durante la primera semana de enero, unos 50 clientes potenciales han consultado sobre los servicios de estos "mercenarios de la opinión".
