La Mayoría Económica contra las Patentes de Software
La Comisión Europea dice que hay una "mayoría económica" en favor de las patentes de software. Esta es la idea que concluyeron tras una consulta en 2000,donde más del 90% de los que respondieron estuvieron contra las patentes de software, y sin embargo decidieron que los pocos que estaban a favor tenían mayor peso "en términos de inversiones y empleos".
Nosotros, la FFII, creemos que la Comisión estaba equivocada, pero los argumentos todavía tienen que ser respaldados por compromisos reales. Por ahora 1,339 compañías, con un mínimo de 25,673 empleados y una facturación anual de 1,773,532,093 EUR, han confiado en la FFII para defender sus intereses, que han definido como los siguientes:

En principio, sólo el conocimiento que se tenga que obtener a través de costosos experimentos con fuerzas de la naturaleza, debería ser susceptible de la indiscriminada, lenta y cara protección monopolística que ofrece el sistema de patentes.
