La presentación del libro está prevista para el día 11 de junio 2005 en el Centro de Estudios Comarcales del Bajo Aragón-Caspe, donde se edita la primera semblanza biográfica dedicada al anarquista caspolino e imbricada con ella, una ambiciosa selección anotada de sus textos menos conocidos.
"Manuel Buenacasa es un personaje extremadamente escurridizo. A cualquiera que alguna vez haya sentido interés por la historia del anarquismo español su nombre le resultará forzosamente familiar. Su obra “Historia del Movimiento Obrero español” aparece citada de forma insistente en publicaciones y estudios sobre el tema como referencia imprescindible. Su nombre es una presencia constante en la historia del movimiento libertario y en la de su principal organización, la Confederación Nacional del Trabajo. Sin embargo poco se sabe de su vida, larga, apasionada y llena de riesgos.

"Manuel Buenacasa es un personaje extremadamente escurridizo. A cualquiera que alguna vez haya sentido interés por la historia del anarquismo español su nombre le resultará forzosamente familiar. Su obra “Historia del Movimiento Obrero español” aparece citada de forma insistente en publicaciones y estudios sobre el tema como referencia imprescindible. Su nombre es una presencia constante en la historia del movimiento libertario y en la de su principal organización, la Confederación Nacional del Trabajo. Sin embargo poco se sabe de su vida, larga, apasionada y llena de riesgos. Sus datos biográficos aparecen telegráficamente detallados en ediciones anteriores de sus trabajos o en obras generales, pero son pocos los detalles humanos que de él se muestran. El importante papel que desempeñó en los más trascendentales momentos del anarquismo español no ha bastado para provocar obras monográficas; no hay ateneos con su nombre; no constan reseñas extensas en la literatura especializada. Su presencia suele ser una fugaz alusión; una mención rápida, frecuente pero desapasionada. Su nombre acostumbra a figurar como mero adjetivo de otros personajes que, con el tiempo, han adquirido una notoriedad y un reconocimiento que a él la Historia quiso negarle".
Homenaje a Manuel Buenacasa
Se presentará el libro "Manuel Buenacasa. Militancia, cultura y acción libertarias" en el que, además de una semblanza biográfica del que fuera Secretario General de C.N.T. y uno de los principales impulsores del movimiento libertario ibérico, se han recopilado multitud de sus textos en una edición crítica de los mismos.
Al acto, que tendrá lugar en el mismo lugar en el que se reunía el Consejo de Aragón, asistirán los familiares de Buenacasa llegados para la ocasión desde Francia. Intervendrán los autores del libro y el profesor de la Universidad de Zaragoza y experto en anarquismo Julián Casanova.
Manuel Buenacasa transitó por la Historia del anarquismo español del pasado siglo sin dejar huellas importantes en su memoria colectiva. No las dejó en la obra de los historiadores. Tampoco entre los habitantes de Caspe, el pueblo en el que nació en 1886.
Cuarenta años después de su muerte en el exilio, Buenacasa sigue siendo un desconocido para sus paisanos, para los militantes y simpatizantes libertarios y también para los estudiosos de la Historia reciente de España. Lo sorprendente es que representa como ningún otro el paradigma del militante libertario; que posee todos los atributos necesarios para merecer el reconocimiento de sus conciudadanos; que lleva cosido a las espaldas todo el recorrido ideológico y sentimental del movimiento anarquista ibérico. ¿Cómo explicar, entonces, el persistente, sistemático y largo olvido?
La presente obra no es más que un intento modesto de reclamar la atención de militantes, historiadores y caspolinos que varios entusiastas de la figura de Manuel Buenacasa decidieron impulsar dispuestos a deshacer un viejo entuerto. El resultado es una mezcla de datos biográficos, opiniones, sentimientos expresados en voz alta, notas severas y conjeturas cuya finalidad última es subrayar el carácter libre y arriesgado de parte de la obra de Buenacasa que, en este volumen, se presenta por primera vez al público.
